Why emphasize humanity and justice in a diverse team to advance the collaborative effort?

Student of the Helsinki Media High School

Who would have thought at the beginning of the year what the coming year would hold? A lot has changed, and we have come a long way together. The project ME! has continued to the extent that the restrictions have allowed. The project is being carried out at the Helsinki Media High School for the very first time. The purpose of the project is to inspire young people, encourage them to explore new aspects of themselves, and to strengthen the school values, and through that enable social inclusiveness. All six values of the school have been the foundation for the project from the beginning. But let's hear it from the students. They have shared their thoughts on two of the school's values: humanity, and justice.

Being human is given, but keeping your humanity is a choice.

Humanity is a powerful word that is very diverse in itself. We have been able to question humanity through such things as epidemics and wars that afflict the world. For me, humanity is not self-evident. Rather it is a value that should be shown in our action daily. We at Media High School agree that choices matter. What you leave behind, you can find in front of you. The ME! Project wonderfully demonstrated the importance of humanity in teamwork. The mentors saw and empowered the diversity of students as individuals and as members of a community.

Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself

Each of us is different in our own way. To me, justice means that everyone should be treated fairly. An essential part of justice also recognizes equality. What is critical is that no one is left alone, and students are treated equally. The project lifted our team spirit, and it was nice to complete it with a great group of positive people.
